As the world becomes ever more interconnected, the importance of English as a primary global language is an inescapable fact. This is as true in academia as in any other field. To fully participate in the academic world requires a level of proficiency not only in general English but in the formal and regulated context of Academic English. This course aims to provide the tools to develop these necessary skills.

You will acquire the skills needed to use English for academic purposes.
You are able to use idiomatic phrases and essential vocabulary which will be practiced with communicative activities in a relaxed atmosphere.
The academic process will be followed from forming ideas to on-line publishing.
You will be introduced to software for building vocabulary, making mind maps, and library and citation software.
The teaching and learning methods are: Active learning methods: applied exercises, individual, pair and group work, brainstorming, discussions.
The seminar will be held via Zoom, the participants will receive the relevant link some days prior to seminar start.
Internet connection, headphones and speakers, if possible a camera (not obligatory).
Barry Jenkins is also a certified Business English trainer for adults and has a degree in social science. He has developed and taught English courses across a wide range of scientific and technical fields, and has also prepared classes in the social sciences and humanities. He is currently active in four different Austrian academic institutions. As well as being a Professional English trainer, Barry also lectures in academic English, sociology, and intercultural management. He and Andrea Zimpernik are currently updating the unlimited series of English textbooks for the Austrian school system.
